Revised Artist Statement
My background lies in the craft world, having done things such as scrapbooking, origami, and other areas throughout my life. I also have a very strong love of Mathematics which tends to present itself in my use of proportion and emphasis on scale. Recently, I have started to use duct tape as a medium and I hope to develop that skill and incorporate it into my work. I also hope to incorporate my background in the craft world into my work as a fine artist as I feel there are certain aesthetics in the design of that field; I want to meld the two worlds together. My recent discovery of felting and the fiber arts world seems to be the way I can merge my love of crafting with the world of fine arts.

Artist Statement
Hello, my name is Jess Castaldi and ever since I was little, I have had an interest in the arts. My background lies in the craft world having done things such as scrapbooking, origami, and other areas. I also have a very strong love of Mathematics and have considered going in to the field of architecture or interior design. My style tends to lean towards an illustration or graphic nature as shown in my last painting project of the giant door in which I emphasized perspective. I love to incorporate myself in my work in some way; the door piece enforces how I view the world based on my height. Since I am short, I often find myself having to reach up to things and that is shown in the piece by the doorknob being above my head.
Recently I have started to use duct tape as a medium and I hope to develop that skill and incorporate it into my work. I also hope to incorporate my background in the craft world into my work as a fine artist as I feel there are certain aesthetics in the design of that field; I want to meld the two worlds together.
